Contractor appointed to design new school

North Ayrshire Council confirmed the appointment of a contractor to complete the design of the new facility.

The campus is expected to transform Ardrossan North Shore and will comprise of an early years, primary and secondary school with additional support needs.

Once the campus is open, both Winton Primary and Ardrossan Academy's current buildings will close.

The shared community facilities will also include a library, learning hub and indoor sports facilities, including swimming pool, sports hall, gymnasium, dance studio and fitness studio, outdoor sports facilities consisting of two sports pitches and a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA).

There will also be an outdoor learning landscape, recreational and growing spaces, along with associated parking and infrastructure.

The project has had its fair share of delays in what has proved to be a much longer process than was initially intended.

Work on the North Shore site finally began earlier this year and extensive remediation work is continuing  to transform the land into one fitting for facilities.

Construction of the new campus will not begin until this is completed next year.

Contractor Morgan Sindall will complete the design of the new campus facility.

The company is experienced in this field having recently completed the delivery of the new Maybole Campus for neighbouring South Ayrshire Council.
